On the 2nd day of the PFINGST MASTERS, another round of magnificent and enjoyable youth football at the highest level was on display in the South of Luzern. Almost 3,000 spectators joined the players and staff on Sunday that was accompanied by great football weather and no noteworthy injuries. In the category U13, SG Eintracht Frankfurt from Germany was able to lift the trophy at the Allmend Sud. One category below it was Bayern Munich that showed everyone how it is done. The technical and tactical abilities of this team were exquisite and, as a result, they were able to lift the trophy in a field of strong competitors. In the category of the second youngest teams (U11) it was FC Zurich who were able to call themselves the crowned winners.

Thomas Fink, president of the Organising Committee, was pleased with regard to the two days of the tournament: “All 1,300 footballers that competed were able to travel back without any noteworthy injuries and the weather turned out much better than predicted. With FC Bayern Munich we found a worthy winner amongst the category with the strongest teams.”

FC Luzern and the Organising Committee of the 12th PFINGST MASTERS would like to thank the city of Luzern, the 500 volunteers and all partners and sponsors for their efforts at this Europeanwide unique event that is, with the addition of the DANONE NATIONS CUP, now part of the largest youth football competition of the world.

The 13th edition of the PFINGST MASTERS will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 3rd/4th June 2017.

The 1st day of the 12th PFINGST MASTERS could be carried out despite a virtually flooded Allmend in the morning. The highlight of the day was provided by the U12 of Luzern which won the DANONE NATIONS CUP and will now represent Switzerland in the Finals of this competition in France in November. In the category U10 it was Winterthur that won an entertaining final on penalties against FC Luzern. The team of the FCL Löwenschule won an outstanding 4th place in the U10-category.

„Despite the rain in the morning we were lucky with the weather in the afternoon”, said Thomas Fink, president of the Organising Committee. In the morning the playing fields had to be cleared from water, a feat successfully completed by the city gardeners (Luzerner Stadtgärtnerei) and the Organising Committee, to provide playable and fair conditions.

Although it rained early on, 2,000 spectators found their way to the Southern part of Luzern and saw youth football at its finest! “Sometimes you are left out in the rain”, said Ursula Stämmer, member of the city council, with regards to the weather conditions that turned out better than predicted.

Tomorrow (Sunday) the action is retaken at 09:00. It will be the starting point for the category U11 for the tournament.
